VueFinder 4.0 — modernized, stable, and smarter
I’m very excited to share this update — it marks a major step forward for VueFinder.
Over the past weeks, I’ve rewritten large parts of the core, resolved long-standing issues, and improved performance, stability, and maintainability across the board.
This release isn’t just about fixes and polish — it’s about building a stronger foundation for what comes next.
After a long development phase focused on modernization, VueFinder 4.0 is finally here. There’s still more to do, but it feels great to see VueFinder moving steadily in the right direction — step by step, towards the tool I’ve always envisioned.
This version refines the architecture, improves performance, and simplifies the developer experience — all while keeping VueFinder’s reliability intact.
Although version 3.x wasn’t released publicly, it laid the foundation for 4.0.
Key updates include:
• Updated to the latest Vue and Tailwind CSS v4
• Migrated from SCSS to CSS
• Improved performance with virtual columns for large datasets
• Added TypeScript and nanostates
• Upgraded Uppy v5 and integrated vue-advanced-cropper
• Cleaned up PostCSS configuration and build process
Version 4.0 introduces visible improvements in both UI and usability:
• New menu bar, filter & sort dropdowns, toasts and updated status bar
• History navigation (forward/back) and editable target paths
• Mobile-friendly move/copy modal
• Read-only indicators, selection limits, and multi-theme variables
• New Adapter API for custom filesystem integrations (Remote, IndexedDB and Array Drivers)
